IPP1 With Susanna Recchia-
'It's Better To' game. We walk round and someone says 'It's better to' do something. This something can be ANYTHING! No limits! For example, we said it's better to copy Alex, it's better to walk out the room and it's better to follow Frankie.
Improvisation and movement, relaxed, moving from one place to another, stand, sit, plank, lie, run, walk. For as long as you like.
Pause, Begin, Rewind, End, Replace. IMPROVISE! This makes such a good score for 15 minutes and I think I will definitely use this again because it's so fun and effective!
Memories
How, What, When, Were, Who?
How - Guitar, old school music, friends
What - Random pub nights
When - After dance rehearsals
Where - Quids
Who - Dan, Callum, Alan, Cara, Tim, Angie, Lottea, Adam, Maddie, Terrence.
You take 4 main points of this and write and draw what comes to mind when you say these. My favourite one I chose was 'old school music'. To me this means 90's/Noughties; to me this means freedom into slightly restricted so I started using free movements then repeated them but restricted them slightly to show the decade transition.
Susanna Recchia Lecture-
She has worked a lot with Siobhan Davies especially on her archive. She works with hands-on experience and with workshop games. She also likes to work with 'no limits' and is working from a book called 'Composing While Dancing, an Improvisers Companion' by Maria Buckwalter. When we worked on phrase we worked on making each movement fluid by getting one to flow into the other.
