Imagin BBC....

So I watched a documentry called Imagin and it's about an art set, about a greek good who is seen bathing by a mortle man and is seen naked, it's all about how she eventually tortures him to what I assumed was death. The pictures have been held in the London art gallerie for years, and there has resently been a fight to keep them in the UK, as celebration of winning the paintings in an action against a rich Chinese man and for the celebration of London getting the Olympics for 2012 an artist has desided to go get seven coreogrephers to do three art pieces about te story.

One peice was an insterlation in a room next to the expensive paintings, were a woman (Called Ruth, the same name as the godess in the story) is having a bath and there is a little peep whole were the public can see a her. The idea of this was to make the public feel like the mortal who was watching the godess while she was bathing, the feeling of something that you shouldn't be doing this.

The second peice was a ballet piece telling the story (similar to how they do it it in Swan Lake and The Nutckracker). To represent the peeking, they used a two was mirror. This was a more typical way of showing the story. This piece focused mainly on showing the descovery of the mortal and the distress of the godess.

The third piece was a contempry piece danced with two artists and a £50000 robot. The robot was able to dance with the artists via a saterlight contection of a dancer in another room wearing a mofsuit and moving. This was sent to the robots systom and each human move was interpritated as a robot movement. The two artists danced in frount and a little bit around the robot, and after beeing interveiwed said it was like having a third artist on stage with them. This part of the story was to show the godess destorying the mortal.

I found this documentry fasinating as it contained and insterlation (which is what we work on in IPP1/2) a ballet peice, which was the style I mainly danced before I came to university, and a contempery piece which is the style im currently working on. I liked the robot peice the best, purley because it shows that and one (or thing) can dance and move to tell a story.
